October 4th is World Animal Day

Established during an ecological convention in Florence, Italy, in 1931, World Animal Day seeks to emphasize the bond between humans and animals and champions the cause of those on the brink of extinction.

In honor of this day, let's delve into the animal realm of Black Desert!

Black Desert's vast world teems with a richness of wildlife, mirroring our own reality. As we celebrate and reflect on the creatures around us, let's also discover the intriguing fauna within the Black Desert universe.

1. Valencia Mountain Sheep
This intriguing creature is indigenous to the Valencia region. In our world, its appearance closely mirrors the gazelle—a familiar star of many nature documentaries. While various species of gazelles inhabit regions spanning Africa to Mongolia, the ravages of climate change have rendered some extinct and others endangered.

In Black Desert, if you traverse northwest from the Cadry Ruins, Kunid's Shelter beckons, where you can spot Valencia Mountain Sheep amidst breathtaking vistas.

2. Guanaco
Characterized by its elongated neck, the Guanaco shares its name in both our reality and Black Desert. Infamously known to spit when antagonized, the Guanaco belongs to the camelid lineage, predominantly residing in the elevated terrains of South America.
They might seem deer-like at a glance, but their association with camels is a delightful revelation!

Yearning for a Guanaco encounter in Black Desert? Roam the Duvencrune landscapes, and you're bound to cross paths with these unique creatures.

3. Wasteland Iguana

The last critter we want to introduce today is the Wasteland Iguana!

Wasteland Iguana only exists in Black Desert, but there are a variety of iguanas in our world!

Some people think they’re scary because they look like dinosaurs, but in truth, they are herbivores and scare easily!

Both in our world and in Black Desert, myriad animals harmoniously share our spaces. So, adventurers, which fauna captures your fascination? If you've got a favorite or a unique find, we'd love to hear about it in the comments!
