If you really want to get into fishing, it’s important to know about fishing rods and fishing points. We will tell you more about the special fishing rod and schools of fish to make your fishing even more enjoyable in Black Desert.

■ How to get the special fishing rod

There is a fishing rod that can catch multiple fish at a time - the ‘Triple-Float Fishing Rod’.

It can’t be crafted unlike other fishing rods, it can only be obtained through quests. The only downside is that the rod can’t be repaired so it has a limited life span. However, the fact that it can catch a lot of fish at a time is a major advantage so many Adventurers make use of it.

So what quests can you do to get this fishing rod?

Adventurers usually complete the quest from Abelin in Velia.

▲ Abelin is located in front of the storage keeper in Velia.

You need to complete a total of 7 quests, including 2 repeatable quests that can be received once every 3 days.

The 2 repeatable quests are as follows:

▲ The fish needed for the quests can be caught in the open seas near Velia.

▲ You must activate the ‘Fishing’ tab in the prefered quest types on the quest window (hotkey ‘O’) to receive the quest.

▲ You can check how long you need to wait to get the repeatable quests again in the quest window (hotkey ‘O’).

Another way to get the Triple-Float Fishing Rod is through the ‘[Weekly] A Special Fishing Rod’ quest.

If you follow the repeatable quests starting with the fishing quest in Balenos all the way up to Mediah, you can receive the ‘[Weekly] A Special Fishing Rod’ quest.

This quest requires you to catch more fish than the quest in Velia so it will take longer. However, it is worthwhile if you consider how useful it is to get 3 Triple-Float Fishing Rods, and how rare they are.

■ The Triple-Float Fishing Rod is the best for catching schools of fish

Since the Triple-Float Fishing Rod can’t be repaired to make use of it wisely, you need to find ways to catch more high-value fish.

The ideal way to use the rod would be to catch schools of fish in the ocean.

You can catch yellow-grade fish guaranteed from schools of fish so you can maximize your value by using the Triple-Float Fishing Rod which can catch many fish with one cast.

Schools of fish can be found periodically out on the sea and in rivers but we recommend that you search the ocean to find your school of fish. The fact that schools of fish are easier to spot due to the flock of seagulls congregating above them in the open sea is one reason why the ocean is better. Another reason is that fish are more common out in the ocean than on the coast near towns.

When you are fishing out at sea, it is important to check if the node of origin for the fish is connected to the node where you plan to sell your fish.

Make sure that you have invested Contribution Points in the nodes that connect the origin and destination.

Although it’s a good idea to find your own hidden fishing spots, you can earn much more silver by following the flock of seagulls to catch schools of fish.
