Even here, officials attempt to extort more from the poor. 

Do they even live amongst their people? 

When the sun sets, and most rest. 

Stories of these corrupt officials ring through the King’s bed chambers. 

Those who carry the words spoken in daylight. 

Are stars, silently floating throughout the night. 

When the Eagle Owls open their beaks, 

they command the attention of the King. 

When their amber eyes pierce the veil of corruption, 

The King raises a hand and delivers instructions quietly. 

Their wings spread once more 

They take flight to to carry out their orders. 

All of this in secret, to maintain the hunt of the Eagle Owls. 

The prey have no escape.

Their prey are only those corrupt officials taking more than their fair share from the poor. 

Moving them subtly, the King alone knows their identities. 

To see their faces, would be the last thing you’ll ever see.
