The Black Desert team has always actively taken action against those identified as using illegal/unauthorized programs or macros in our efforts to eliminate these users from all aspects of our services.

The act of using illegal/unauthorized programs or macros is an improper way to gain an unfair advantage in “progression,” one of the most key elements of an RPG. Thus, we take all the steps necessary to detect and identify these kinds of users and punish them to the maximum extent possible in accordance with our Black Desert Operational Policy.

Currently, while a majority of illegal/unauthorized programs created for Black Desert are identified and detected by our security programs, we also constantly collect new information and perform regular investigations to keep a tab on new programs as well.

However, differing from regular illegal/unauthorized programs, we faced a rather large hurdle regarding the difficulty of collecting clear and definite evidence for hardware macros from using certain mouse and keyboard products due to the nature of such macros.

We determined that there was a limit on how we could identify these macro users with our current methods, so all the relevant departments in Pearl Abyss took part in figuring out a way to detect them.

We analyzed the logs of certain hardware with currently known macro features and took this information as our basis to develop Pearl Abyss’s very own macro detection program called “Pearl Protect” to detect and identify such macro users.

As a result of developing Pearl Protect, we successfully detected and identified macro users after going through a log analysis and data verification process. Therefore, we’ve taken the following actions against the identified users in accordance with the Black Desert Operational Policy. 

■ Violators of the Black Desert Operational Policy

- Restriction Date: 2020/10/21

- Restriction Criteria: Use of Illegal Programs and Macros - 1st Violation (Permanent Restriction)

- Number Restricted: 8 Users 

Before we developed and implemented our macro detection program, the reports by our Adventurers have helped us more than anything else. Whenever we receive a report about illegal/unauthorized programs and macros through our Customer Support, community or any other channels, we will do our utmost to deliver meaningful results no matter how long it takes us.  

As always, we will continue to aggressively take action against any users of illegal/authorized programs or macros to ensure your game experience remains as optimal as possible.
