Greetings Adventurers,   

An island that was once unknown on the map of Black Desert, where the Papus and Otters have waged a Thousand Years War! The cute-looking Papus and Otters take the center stage in the island of Papua Crinea.  

But to complete this island’s main quest, acquire knowledge, or interact with the island’s inhabitants, you’ll need to know the special customs and rules of this island.  

Sound daunting? Don’t worry, the GMs have prepared a guide just for you! Just follow along~ 

In order to start your adventure of Grándiha and Papua Crinea, you first have to become a member of the Lamute Gang.  

Accept the quest [Papua Crinea] An Amazing Gift Just for You from the Black Spirit with a character that is lv. 58 or higher and become a member of the Lamute Gang (who are aiming for a treasure worth 99.9 billion)!    

 >  Switch to “Suggested” under main quests.  

And now for the “reason” you might need a guide for the [Papua Crinea] quests is that it’s connected to the Adventure Log. So once you’ve completed the quest “[Papua Crinea] An Amazing Gift Just for You”, you’ll be able to see a total of 5 “Lamute Gang's Adventure Journals”.   

In order to accept the quest “[Papua Crinea] Lamute Gang” and progress the [Papua Crinea] questline, you’ll need to complete the “Lamute Gang Adventure Journal Volume 1” 

Important thing to note! Don’t forget this as you complete each page of the Adventure Journal!! You must press the complete button!!!  
 
If you don’t press this button for each page, you won’t be able to progress the Adventure Journal or quests.  

Also, make sure to carefully read the Adventure Journal and NPC interactions. The answers are all there!  

 As you wrap up volume 1 of the Lamute Gang Adventure Journal, you’ll be guided to “the island where there’s no barterer”. What could this sign say?  

Since this island is a neutral zone that neither Papus or Otters can claim, you’d think they stop fighting...? That sign is said to have been placed by the guru of all barterers. Just how much have they fought for a sign like this to be made...?  

Finally, it’s the Papua Crinea island!  

There’s a group of Papus! Go talk to them.  

Pahahaha! Papa! 

Hmm... what are they saying... I guess it’s true that you can’t interact with the Papus without transforming...  

As stated in the 6/24 Update Details, it seems you’ll need to get your hands on some transformation scrolls! By progressing through the [Papuea Crinea] main quest, you can obtain a 1-day transformation scroll as a quest reward.   

Look at me! I’ve used the “Panipani Villager Transformation Scroll”!

On Papua Crinea, if you want to interact with the locals, acquire knowledge, or accept quests, you’ll need to transform into either a Papu or Otter.

Once you’ve completed volume 2 of the Lamute Gang Adventure Journal, you’ll obtain a “permanent” Brave Pine Blader Transformation Scroll. 

There’s two major differences between this Brave Pine Blader Transformation Scroll and the Panipani Villager Transformation Scroll you get from quests.   

Number one! The Panipani Villager Transformation Scroll has a usage period of 1-day and won’t be usable once the day has past, while the Brave Pine Blader Transformation Scroll is permanent, so it can be used for as long as you want. (Note: The Panipani Village Transformation Scroll sold from the shop doesn’t expire.)  

Number two! Make sure to pay attention to the name of each scroll. Villager and Blader! Using the Panipani Villager Transformation Scroll means you won’t be able to attack, but if you use the Brave Pine Blader Transformation Scroll, you’ll be able to. 

Now then, let us list up the things we’ve learned so far.  

1. Finish each page of the Adventure Journal one-by-one. 

- While you can complete other Adventure Journals regardless of order, the Lamute Gang Adventure Journal requires you to complete the previous page before being able to complete the next page. So, make sure not to miss a single page!    

2. Answers are within. 

- Go where? Bring what?  

When you don’t know what to do next, make sure to carefully read the Adventure Journal or NPC interactions. The answers are all there.  

3. Always make sure to press the complete button after completing a page of the Adventure Journal! 

- Don’t forget you need to press that complete button to progress through the Adventure Journal! Make sure you press that button every time you finish a page. 

The must-have item to survive on Papua Crinea island, the Transformation Scroll.  

Due to the long-standing hostilities between the Papus and Otters, any outsiders are treated with heavy suspicion. So if you don’t show up as a Papu or Otter, you’ll only be met with a language you can’t understand…      

Thus! Before heading off your adventure to the Papua Crinea island, make sure to read up on how to use the Transformation Scroll.  

◇ How to Obtain a Transformation Scroll 

Transformation Scrolls can be obtained by progressing through the main quest. Let’s take the Otters as an example~!  

By completing the quest “[Papua Crinea] Morio, Otter's Friend”, you can get the 1-day version of the “Queekity Thumpity Moon Villager Transformation Scroll”. 

What if you accidently throw away the scroll or what if it expires? Don’t worry!  

You can buy them from the [Lumete Gang] Benns Morio shop!    

Plus, the transformation scrolls you purchase from the shop are permanent, so you can use them whenever. 

◇ How to Use a Transformation Scroll

If you right-click a transformation scroll, you’ll be directed to the transformation location by a pillar of light.  

You might think, why do I have to go to a designated location to transform?  

But if you really think about it, you’ll realize that you can’t transform in front of the Otters who are suspicious of any outsiders. Just imagine how alarmed they’d be!  

Once you’ve become a member of the Lamute Gang, it’s very important that this is kept a SECRET.  

Now then, have you used the transformation scroll? If you have, you’ll need to press the R key to transform into the summoned Otter. 

To end the transformation, you just need to press Shift+R. 

After you’ve transformed into either a Papu or Otter, you’ll see a control guide in the lower-right corner of the screen. Just follow the guide to move around, talk, and attack (if you’re a Blader)! 

◇ Things to Know About the Transformation Scroll 

There’s a couple of things you need to know about transforming.  

First off, all transformation scrolls originate from the Lamute Gang’s Darkcloud Shapeshifting Dictionary, but since research into this dictionary isn’t finished, you won’t be able to jump or move backwards while transformed. Additionally, the transformation will be broken as soon as you enter any water.  

Be careful, any suspicious Papus or Otters you encounter might ask you to take swim~   

Secondly, it might be obvious… but the Papus and Otters are in the midst of the Thousand Year War. That’s why if you transform into a Papu and go to an Otter or vice versa, you’ll be attacked by the guards and the transformation will be undone.   

Third, you won’t be able to perform certain actions such as calling the Black Spirit or fishing while transformed. It might be simpler to consider it as a similar state to when you are riding a horse. Just like when riding a horse, you won’t be able to fish or call the Black Spirit, but you’ll still be able to interact with NPCs. So, if you want to call forth the Black Spirit, just press Shift+R to end the transformation!
