In our previous Voice of Adventurers - Istanbul post-event GM Note, we shared with you some of the scenes of enthusiasm and passion from our Adventurers.   

Here’s what we discussed with them!

Q & A

Q. What counter and preventive measures are being planned against users of private servers/hack tools/bot? What steps will be taken to detect these problems faster?  

A. On January 16, we opened a new battle royale mode, the Shadow Arena.

While we are thankful for the interest many people have for the new mode, there has been a steady increase in the number of Adventurers using illegal programs since the opening of Shadow Arena.

We apologize to those who may have experienced unpleasant gameplay and discomfort due to this issue. As many of you are already aware, we have strengthened the system that shuts down the client automatically when an unauthorized program is detected. Additionally, we have disabled the guest pass coupons to prevent free sign-ups from recklessly using hack tools, and banned a total of 315 accounts since the Shadow Arena update. (As of the event date)

However, we know this isn’t enough. We can’t reveal everything to you at this point, but we have added several verification criteria. Macros are constantly monitored for, and we will continue to do our best to block unauthorized programs. But, we still need the cooperation of our Adventurers to ensure an enjoyable game environment. Please report any information regarding the use of illegal programs. The more information that’s contained in these reports, the more helpful they will be.

These matters will be continuously improved and our development team will continue their diligence.

Q. The GMs rarely appear in-game! Are there any future plans for GMs to actively communicate with the users?

Also, could the limitations placed on the GM’s authority be relaxed?

ex) If more GMs were actively monitoring Shadow Arena, then hack tool users in Shadow Arena could be quickly punished.  

Can the CS replies be more polite?

A. The GMs may not frequently appear in-game, but they are always tracking discussions within the game. Nevertheless, the GMs will be hosting an event today (VoA Day) to listen to the voices of our Adventurers to help meet this expectation. For those of you who feel the GMs are absent, the GMs will try to meet Adventurers more often by making appearances in monster zones and towns.

Furthermore, we want to host various GM events and have more active discussions.

GM events used to differ conceptually by season, (For example, Shadow Arena GM event, and Find the GM series, etc.) but from now on, we’ll prepare GM events that will promote conversations.  

I sincerely apologize for the slow and poor quality of our CS replies. When I return, I’ll double check with our operations team.



Q. Will there ever be a system where all the world’s users gather together to participate in a war?

Are there any plans to consolidate the global servers? What are the future plans for Black Desert as an MMORPG in 3 years, 5 years, and 10 years from now?

A : It is one of our hopes and dreams to have Adventurers across the world enjoy Black Desert with a shared goal, like engaging in a Conquest War together. It's a topic of constant discussion. We can’t say it’s for sure right now, but it’s a real possibility.

One of the things we need to address is the unique network conditions for every country, as certain countries may have an advantage or disadvantage due to it. So for now, we are currently hosting the global Arena of Arsha competition and Shadow Arena ranking events. As for 10 years from now, the goal is for Black Desert to be the most beloved MMORPG in Turkey & MENA. 

Q. I’m curious about the game’s future development. What direction is Black Desert moving towards?

A. So far, the focus has been on catching up with the content of countries that were launched earlier. In the future, we want to focus on what we always intended for the game, the excitement that comes from entering Black Desert for the first time. We want to focus on creating new adventures that will allow Adventurers to create unforgettable memories.  



Just like the recent update that removed the weight limit earlier this year, we will be following down this direction and focusing on revamping parts of the game that Adventurers found inconvenient. Also, the storyline will be adjusted and improved so that more Adventurers can get immersed into it. As for PvP, the core of Black Desert, we are in the process of putting the final touches to Territory War, a new large scale PvP mode.

Of course, we plan to add new classes and territories to the vast world of Black Desert as well. We hope you will look forward to these as well.

Our goal is to develop the game into a place where Adventures from around the globe can experience exciting adventures and enjoy the competition in a world they want to create. We will continue to do the best we can for this goal.  

To summarize, we want to remove outdated adventures for new users, develop a variety of game contents to enjoy while reducing the time and effort required for the game, and lastly, we want to develop content that can improve and extend PvP and meet our long-term goals.

Q. Are there any content development plans for beginner-intermediate users between 300 - 500 AP+DP?

Are there any content update plans that will be more enjoyable for intermediate users?

A. Black Desert constantly faces the problem of how to create content that will satisfy Adventurers of all levels, including our existing Adventurers. We’re trying various ways of helping newer Adventurers in particular so that they may quickly engage with Adventurers who have been playing for a long time.

Some recent additions have been the Shadow Arena and the Node War caps. We’ll continue working hard to make Black Desert enjoyable for everyone.

Q. Have there been any other changes to the enhancement after the enhancement probabilities were revealed? Is it simply just the probability reveal?

A. Just like the update I mentioned earlier that removed silver from the weight limit, the direction for this year is to revamp parts of the game that were inconvenient for Adventurers..



You can consider this probability update as a result of concerns for the Adventurers’ convenience. It simply displays the probability and there were no actual changes made to  the probabilities.

Q. Are there any plans for a quest like the Secret Quest Challenge from last summer?

A. Our development team is always trying to quickly deliver a variety of interesting content that Adventurers can enjoy. The Secret Quest Challenge was a great update for us as many Adventurers  actively participated and enjoyed the event around the world. While it may not be as big as last summer, we’re still waiting for Adventurers to uncover the Secret Quest Challenges still hidden in the world of Black Desert that are yet to be discovered. Please continue to give us your support!

Q. Will there only be human classes? Is there any chance of getting new classes from other races?

A. We’re always developing with an open mind to all possibilities. The same is true for classes with new races. There are already many different races in the Black Desert world, such as Dwarves, Ogres, Otters, Shai, Demibeasts, and etc. so it's not entirely unlikely. You can continue to expect great updates for new classes in the future that our Adventurers will surely love.

Q. The information provided on Wiki is not enough. Are there plans to develop a platform to provide better information to users?

A. Recently, the mobile web Central Market, a web platform to check information about the market, was added in Korea. If there is no problem, we will be updating it to the Turkey & MENA server.

For now, we’re planning to create a window for mobile devices to check the in-game market information while out of the game. We hope to provide you with more and more information when the new web exchange is added.



Also, the Adventurers’ Board was recently updated. It’s a place in-game where you can share your best tips and information from the official website. We hope more and more information is shared through the Adventurers’ Board, and not just on the Wiki.

Q. What are the future plans for the XBOX?

A. On March 4, XBOX launched for the United States and Europe and the number of users is continuing to grow. Our research and surveys indicate that there are more PlayStation users in Turkey and Europe. We’re working on Xbox and other console platforms, so please support us in Turkey & MENA.  

Q. Do you have plans to increase the number of users? What plans do you have to bring back the users that left?

A. Since the start of Black Desert, we have constantly worked to implement ideas, events, and systems to aid new and returning Adventurers be able to hit the ground running. Also, we always remember to consider our existing Adventurers.

So first off, we reorganized the beginning progression to reduce the inventory burden that new Adventurers may feel, and made changes like removing weight from silver in an effort to lower the entry barrier for new Adventures.

On top of that, we are working hard to prepare big new updates this year. We’re planning on some updates for the first-half of the year that are yet to be revealed. You’ll find out more in today’s update presentation. We are looking forward to presenting and preparing many things for our returning Adventurers.

Q. How will you approach new users?

A. We’re working on ways to get new users to sign-up and various marketing activities.

Starting with this upcoming Ramadan, we are more focused on getting more Adventures to enjoy Black Desert.

 

Q. There doesn’t seem to be enough marketing activity in the form of PR or SNS/Influencers, what do you think?

A. CCP Games, the creators of EVE Online, was recently acquired by Pearl Abyss. We are now sharing our marketing strategies for Europe and plan to conduct more diverse marketing activities in the future. Additionally, we will host offline user meetings, like today’s event, more frequently so that we can truly listen to everyone’s voices.

Q. What’s the goal for the Turkey & MENA server?

A. So far, we’ve localized Black Desert in your language and opened a server just for Turkey & MENA Adventurers. Now, we are preparing new contents that are to be added and working quickly to finish localization. On the basis of stable service, we hope to improve the game through constant updates and ensure it will be loved by many Adventurers for a long time. We hope Black Desert will be the most beloved MMORPG in Turkey & MENA server 10 years from now, and work towards the goal of becoming everyone’s number 1 game.

Content Update Plans

April - New Class, Lahn

Lahn is a class that wields the weapon Crescent Pendulum. It has a blade attached to a cloth and chain. She is agile and nimble-bodied as she uses the Crimson Pendulum to attack and combo from various distances. Even after her awakening, she is an appealing class that uses her Crimson Glaives for special attacks that will inflict enormous damage.   



Pre-registration will begin on April 17, and Lahn’s Early Customization will start one week later on April 24th.. The official update will be on May 1, and the awakening update will be on May 8.

Drieghan, the Land of Dragons, and the new World Boss - Garmoth

Dreighan is a new region where you can really feel the charm of its lofty heights.

The capital city of Dreighan is Duvencrune, which means “dragon’s tooth” in an ancient language. More than half of the population lives in Duvencrune, so you can probably imagine that it’s a big city. Duvencrune has one unique feature, the hot springs. If you immerse yourself in the hot springs, your character will gain a special effect. Make sure to visit the Hot Springs after the update.

Dreighan is also home to the new world boss, Garmoth. When this red dragon is defeated by Adventurers, it will fly into the sky and leave behind her loot. Adventurers who made a certain level of contribution to the battle will be able to acquire a variety of items, including Garmoth’s Heart. The heart can enhance Nouver/Kutum sub-weapons.

Protty Cavern and Sycraia Underwater Ruins

As the underwater ruins are updated, the new summonable field boss monster Sycreeth will be added. By defeating this boss, you can get new accessories such as the Tungrad Ring and other new equipment. We expect this content to be worth the wait for Adventurers who dream of acquiring new equipment by taking the risk of exploring new areas.



Please note though, the Protty Cavern requires an AP range of about 170-190, slightly higher than Crescent Shrine. While the shallow and deeper levels of Sycraia Underwater Ruins require a higher AP of 220-240 and 280 respectively, so please be careful.

New Dream Horse - Doom

Doom is a descendent of Kamasylvia Krogdalo and uses the power of fire for powerful attacks and quick movements to travel even faster. Doom can use S: Instant Accel Attack to travel at an even faster speed, and the Dark Sprint to attack nearby enemies while leaving behind a trail of fire. Additionally, Doom is the only Dream Horse that can learn the skill Two-seater. Please look forward to the new Dream Horse - Doom!
