NEW & IMPROVEMENTS

CLASS CHANGES

CLASS CHANGES
Today’s scheduled maintenance brings several updates and changes to class mechanics.
 
First, we’ve made adjustments to the speed reduction debuff. We recognize that speed reduction significantly impacts character actions, often leading to a frustrating gameplay experience. To address this, we’ve capped the speed reduction (including movement, attack, and casting speed) at a maximum of 20% (25% with specialization) for up to 5 seconds. While 20% is still a noticeable amount, reducing it further would diminish the debuff’s purpose. We will continue to monitor and adjust this as necessary based on ongoing feedback and testing.
 
Next, we’ve re-evaluated the Special Evasion stat. This feature has been crucial in PvP, but recent changes to hit count have caused significant damage variance. Despite our efforts to maintain its unique role, testing revealed that keeping this option as-is hindered overall balance improvements. 
 
Therefore, we’re changing the Special Evasion effect to "Max HP Increase (+75 HP per +1%)." We tested alternatives like general or special damage reduction, but increasing Max HP provided the most consistent combat experience. This change is also beneficial in PvE and other scenarios. Consequently, average Max HP will rise, and items which recover your HP such as Extra Large HP Potions will be adjusted accordingly. Additionally, classes which had skills that recovered a percentage of HP will switch to fixed values to prevent overbalancing as Max HP increases.
 
Alongside these changes, we’ve made several tweaks to specific classes by continuously reviewing performance data and your feedback to ensure balanced gameplay. While we aim to avoid unnecessary balancing, some adjustments were unavoidable for classes like Berserker and Drakania. We will keep monitoring these changes and make further improvements as needed.
 
We understand that these updates, particularly the changes to Special Evasion and "recover HP" effects, may feel significant. However, like the recent hit count reduction, these adjustments are essential for maintaining a healthy combat environment in Black Desert. We are committed to ensuring these changes enhance your gaming experience and will continue to focus on delivering the best possible gameplay.
 
Based on further testing, we’ve made additional adjustments since the last Global Lab update. For instance, the speed reduction debuff required changes for specific classes. Guardians, being relatively slower, now have a 20% speed reduction instead of 10%. Conversely, Musa and Maehwa, known for their mobility, will no longer have the speed reduction debuff, as it was deemed unfair compared to other classes. We ask for your understanding and will consider further improvements if necessary.
 
Lastly, we’ve made balance changes to Corsair. Previously, we aimed to enhance Corsair’s role in breaking enemy defenses and mitigating grab vulnerabilities, but the changes were too extreme. To address this, we’ve modified the defensive effects of skills like Prime: Mareca: Jet Stream and Prime: Mareca: Spiral Soak from Super Armor to Invincible at the start. Additionally, we’ve reduced the Guard Gauge extra damage effect from 50% to 30%, removed the damage reduction buff, and adjusted the damage reduction while in Super Armor to 50%.

Common Changes
①. Duration and reduction rate for speed debuffs on hits reduced by approximately 50%.
- Also changed the maximum duration and speed reduction rate to 5 sec and -20%, respectively.
For example, Musa's Absolute: Backstep Slash with the "Movement Speed -50% for 10 sec on hits" debuff
has seen a 50% decrease in both duration and reduction rate, making it now Movement Speed -25% for 5 sec on hits.
Technically, speed reduction rates will now only be applied up to a maximum of -20%, so the actual debuff becomes "Movement Speed -20% for 5 sec".

②. Skills now apply a uniform speed reduction rate for all skill levels (if varied prior).
- Some skills may have exceptions based on their settings.
For example, Musa's Backstep Slash (I to Absolute) with the "Movement Speed -30/-40/-50/-50%" debuff,
was changed to Movement Speed -15/-20/-20/-20% due to ①.
Now all skill levels have been changed to apply a uniform speed reduction rate, so the actual debuff becomes "Movement Speed -20/-20/-20/-20%".

③. Any skills that applied either only Attack or Casting Speed debuffs will now apply both speed debuffs.
For example, Kunoichi's Prime: Danse Macabre with the "Attack Speed -20% for 10 sec" debuff,
was changed to Attack Speed -10% for 5 sec due to ①.
Since the skill only applied an Attack Speed reduction debuff, the actual debuff now becomes "Attack/Casting Speed -10% for 5 sec".

What are Movement Skills?
▶ These skills are primarily used for movement or evasion. They are typical activated by using Direction + SHIFT (or Direction + RMB for classes like Musa, Maehwa, and Awakened Ranger).

What are Dash Skills?
▶ These skills are designed to close the gap with your foe. They generally involve moving forward and then continuing with an attack.
Common Changes
①. Movement skills will now be affected by Movement Speed Increase/Decrease effects.
- Some skills will only be affected by these effects at the start of the movement, not during the movement itself.
For example,
Tamer's "Leafweave" movement skill will now be affected by Movement Speed Increase/Decrease effects instead of Attack Speed.
Dark Knight's "Dusk" movement skill, which was previously unaffected by speed effects, will now be affected by Movement Speed Increase/Decrease effects.
Woosa's "Butterfly Step" movement skill will now only be affected by Movement Speed Increase/Decrease effects at the start of the skill.

Remember the days when you had to use a variety of dishes to get multiple buffs before heading out to monster zones? Nowadays, you can conveniently enjoy multiple cooking effects with the "Cron Meal" series.
 
In a similar vein, many of you have been using various elixirs, excluding the Frenzy Draught, to get multiple buffs. To streamline this, we've introduced the "Harmony Draught," which combines the effects of multiple alchemy elixirs into one.
 
With the new Harmony Draughts, you can now obtain stronger and more convenient buffs compared to using multiple individual elixirs. The crafting and usage process remains similar to the existing elixirs, ensuring that the production and consumption cycle within Black Desert's economy continues seamlessly.
 
We understand that some adventurers prefer crafting their own elixirs, while many others purchase them individually from the Central Market. Although this has been a positive sign of economic circulation, it has also posed a barrier due to the inconvenience of managing multiple elixirs.
 
The Harmony Draught aims to address this by allowing producers to craft and sell these enhanced draughts, while consumers can purchase them conveniently without having to manage multiple items. This change also supports a positive cycle where consumers can become producers by selling items obtained through defeating monsters.
 
Additionally, using multiple elixirs previously meant you couldn't view all buffs on one screen, nor did you feel like you had enough uses available with your Fairy's "Continuous Care" skill limited slots. Today's update with the Harmony Draught addresses these issues, reducing the burden on your inventory and weight.
 
Moreover, you can now access Silver (Church) Buffs at the Campsite Shop. While the price is slightly higher, we hope this provides more convenience for those who prefer it.
 
These updates mark the beginning of our efforts to improve your experience. We acknowledge the feedback regarding the inconvenience of managing multiple buffs and items. While today's patch may not resolve all issues, we are committed to continuously improving the quality of life in Black Desert. Lower Grade Draught Items

Existing elixirs can be crafted into lower grade versions of the "Harmony Draught" with varying effects.
The newly crafted draughts will either have bolstered effects of the previous elixirs (Elixir of Strong Life - HP +150 → +200) or reduced negative effects (Elixir of Endless Frenzy - DP -8 → 0).
These draughts, like other draughts, cannot be used simultaneously with multiple draughts but are used in crafting the Harmony Draught.
